Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October shines a spotlight on breast health and early detection. With over 316,000 women expected to be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in the U.S. in 2025, and 1 in 8 women affected during their lifetime, awareness and action are more important than ever. This month let’s turn awareness into empowerment through knowledge and steps for prevention.

Staying proactive about breast health can truly make a difference.

✅ Maintain a healthy weight, especially after menopause

✅ Be physically active: Aim for 150–300 minutes of moderate or 75–150 minutes of vigorous activity each week

✅ If you notice any changes in your breasts, such as lumps, pain, or nipple changes, consult your healthcare provider promptly

✅ Consider breastfeeding, if possible, as it canlower risk

✅ Talk to your doctor before using menopausalhormone therapy, as it may increase breast cancer risk

What you eat and how you live matter for breast health:

✅Choose nutrient-rich foods: Vegetables, fruit, whole grains, and lean protein.

✅ Stay hydrated, aim for 6–8 cups of water a day.

✅ Limit processed foods high in sugar and saturated fats.

✅ Fill up on fiber; cruciferous vegetables like broccoli and kale are especially good.

✅ Prioritize regular sleep and manage stress with mindfulness or short walks.
